Stack Dynamics SS7 Stack - Specification Portability The Stack Dynamics SS7 stack is designed not for a single host-computer/network-interface-card architecture, but is instead designed to be portable across different host computer architectures, different host operating systems and different network interface cards. This portability is achieved by the following techniques: As much as possible of the software is written in a portable subset of the C programming language. C is available on most host computers and embedded systems (network interface cards). The stack uses a portable stack layering model compatible with the STREAMS stack layering model first implemented in UNIX and now available on most host operating systems and embedded operating systems.
